Bakeries in Bluffton: Old Town, Burnt Church Road and Bluffton Road

Bluffton’s bakeries are small and mostly independent, and most open early and close by mid-afternoon. Old Town has The Cottage on Calhoun Street and Backus Bakery on May River Road. The others are spread along Burnt Church Road, Bluffton Road and Bluffton Park Crescent. Several are open only part of the week, so check the hours below.

How we made this list. Our starting point was OpenStreetMap records inside Bluffton, the same data behind our local directory, plus bakeries from the state’s SC Food Grades inspection records, each checked against its own website on Oct. 12, 2026. Three of the six have no website of their own; they are on the list because a 2026 state inspection confirms them at the address shown, and we say “No website” instead of giving hours we cannot check. Supermarket bakeries and chain cafes are left out. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. Run one of these places? Alljoy Donut Co. makes handcrafted doughnuts fresh each day it is open, its site says. It is run by Troy and Kristie Derda, who moved to the Lowcountry from the Midwest, and it also brings doughnuts to weddings, birthdays, office events and pop-up markets. Its site gives its hours but not its street address; the address above is from its 2026 state inspection record.

Backus Bakery is on May River Road in Old Town. It has no website of its own, so we cannot give its hours or menu; its most recent state inspection was in September 2026.

The Cottage Cafe, Bakery and Tea Room on Calhoun Street opened in 2009, its site says, and runs a bakery alongside its cafe, with a separate bakery menu. It serves breakfast and lunch six days a week and brunch on Sunday, and is at the Farmers Market of Bluffton on Thursdays.

Lowcountry Bakeology is on Bluffton Road. It has no website of its own; its most recent state inspection was in August 2026.

Pan Fresco Ole is a bakery on Bluffton Park Crescent. It has no website of its own; its most recent state inspection was in June 2026.

The Sugaree on Burnt Church Road bakes pastries and bagels from scratch, its site says, and serves lattes, breakfast sandwiches and lunch. Its display cases also carry heat-and-eat dinners. It is open Tuesday to Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
