Bluffton’s Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants sit in three clusters. Old Town has Agave, La Birria Loca and Mi Tierra within a few blocks of each other. The Bluffton Road shopping centers just off Fording Island Road have La Hacienda and Mexicali Fresh, and the chains and counter-service grills are along Fording Island Road and Buckwalter Parkway.
How we made this list. Our starting point was OpenStreetMap records inside Bluffton, the same data behind our local directory. OpenStreetMap tags only two Bluffton Mexican restaurants, so we added restaurants from the state’s SC Food Grades inspection records whose own website gives a Bluffton address, and checked each one against that site on Oct. 12, 2026. The places
Agave calls itself a laid-back Southwest Tex-Mex taco and margarita bar in Old Town, on Captains Cove Road off May River Road. Its menu centers on tacos and margaritas.
Chipotle is the national burrito and bowl chain, on Fording Island Road. Its location page lists the same hours every day.
Cinco Mexican Grill on Buckwalter Parkway serves a menu of traditional Mexican dishes and posts its full menu as a PDF on its site.
Fiesta Fresh Mexican Grill on Fording Island Road is a dine-in and carryout grill. It closes at 8 p.m. on weekdays and 5 p.m. on Saturday, is closed Sunday and closes for the holidays from Dec. 24 to Jan. 1, its site says.
Hecho en Mexico on Simmonsville Road opens at 10 a.m. every day, by the hours on its site, the earliest start on this list. It closes at 9 p.m. most nights and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
La Birria Loca on May River Road builds its menu around birria, beef slow-simmered and served with consommé, in quesabirria tacos, birria ramen and gorditas. Its site does not post hours, so call ahead.
La Hacienda on Bluffton Road describes its food as bold Mexican flavor and family tradition. Its menu lists tacos with a choice of meats and shrimp tacos.
Mexicali Fresh opened a Bluffton restaurant on Bluffton Road, its site says, and takes orders online. It does not post hours there, so call ahead.
Mi Tierra is a locally owned Mexican restaurant on Dr. Mellichamp Drive in Old Town. Its site says its owner has run it for more than 20 years, after starting at the restaurant as a dishwasher.
Moe’s Southwest Grill is the Tex-Mex burrito, taco and nachos chain, at Malphrus Road near Fording Island Road. It also caters.
Taco Bell on Gateway Village Road lists a dining room and a drive-thru that stays open later, to 3 a.m. most nights and 4 a.m. Thursday to Saturday.
